FAQ

Clatsop Paddle Lessons
Here are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.

Do I need good balance to standup paddle?
The answer is no! If you can walk, you can standup paddle. All tours include a beginner lesson and we teach people how to utilize the paddle to provide balance and stability. Your paddle will become your new best friend!

What should I bring for a paddleboard tour?
All gear, PFDs, dry bags, wetsuits and booties are provided for all SUP tours.
Please bring the following items with you:

• Sunscreen, hat or sun visor, sunglasses, sunglass retainer strap
• Allergy medications if needed and/or any other medications you may need
• Swimsuit and/or rash guard (to wear alone or under wetsuit)

What should I bring for a kayak tour?

Is it safe?
Safety is our number one priority out on the water. Our guides are also instructors and trained in first aid, CPR and water safety. We plan our tours with safety in mind to take best advantage of the usual wind patterns and tides. We are prepared to make adjustments as necessary to handle changing conditions. Our focus is flatwater paddling, thus we don’t go in the ocean and we don’t take beginners out in the main channel of the Columbia River, except sometimes on calmer days farther upriver. There are plenty of calmer backwater sloughs, winding rivers, estuaries and bays to explore.

Do you offer any advanced lessons or tours?
We sure do. Please contact us to discuss personalized instruction tailored to your needs or advanced tours.

We look forward to see you on the water!
